The short version

StickSignal does not collect personal data, require an account, display advertising, use analytics, or send your playing activity to an external server.

Data stored on your device

App preferences—such as layout, per-pad note, channel, velocity, level and pan, kit choice, and routing—are stored locally so your setup can be restored. Imported .stickkit files and their source metadata are copied into a local sound library. StickSignal does not upload preferences or imported kits. You can remove unused versions from the library. In a browser, clearing site data may remove the library; keep your original packages.

Bluetooth and MIDI

Bluetooth access is used only when you choose to connect to a Bluetooth MIDI device. MIDI events are sent to the destination you select through the platform MIDI interface. Enabled MIDI input triggers local sounds without MIDI thru; StickSignal does not copy these events to a developer-operated server.

Motion and touch input

Pressure and accelerometer input can shape hit dynamics. Processing happens locally in a short-lived working window. Raw sensor data is not persisted or shared.

Microphone permission text

iOS or iPadOS may show a microphone-related permission prompt when the app configures local audio output. StickSignal does not record, store, or transmit microphone audio.

Browser downloads and diagnostics

The browser instrument downloads its application and bundled sounds from this website. Playing activity and imported samples stay local. Export diagnostics creates a local file with runtime, routing, kit readiness and event counters; you decide whether to share it.

Sound sources and third-party components

Studio Natural, Vintage Dry and Arena Room use MuldjordKit by Lars Muldjord, DrumGizmo.org, under CC BY 4.0. DRS Handmade uses DRSKit by the DrumGizmo team and Jes Eiler, under CC BY 4.0. Naked Studio uses Naked Drums by Wilkinson Audio, under CC BY 4.0. Samples were mixed, trimmed or converted for StickSignal.

Virtuosity Jazz uses Virtuosity Drums by Versilian Studios, performed by Austin McMahon, under CC0 1.0. Additional Practice instruments use the CC0 samples credited in the bundled trainer notices. The additional 46 banks retain their original source metadata: local Superior Drummer 3 autosampler captures with original WAV bytes retained.

Practice notation uses alphaTab and the Bravura music font. MIDI parsing uses Tone.js MIDI; compressed score import uses fflate. Copyright and license notices for these components, the fonts and sound sources are included with every application in its resource folders.
